Teen and Young Adult Addiction Treatment

When drugs and alcohol are in the picture, hopes and dreams get put on hold or lost for good. We understand what’s at stake—and know how to help. To this end, we’re committed to serving adolescents and young adults with a comprehensive approach that addresses the social, environmental, and developmental needs specific to this age group.

Elements of Treatment

Our treatment for young people is individualized and evidence-based. All clients receive individual, group and family therapy, and a psychiatric evaluation. While everyone’s treatment program is unique based on their specific needs, there are several common components to treatment:

  • Individual counseling – one to three days per week with a masters-level therapist specializing in substance use and co-occurring disorders
  • Intensive Outpatient Program – our intensive outpatient program provides up to fifteen hours a week of individual, group, and family therapy.
  • Outpatient program – our outpatient program provides up to six hours a week of individual, group, and family therapy.
  • Medication-assisted treatment – a teen or young adult battling an addiction to alcoholor opioids may benefit from medication-assisted treatment, which includes using medication like Vivitrol (injectable form of Naltrexone) along with therapy.
  • Aftercare services – Individualized case management, drug testing, and psychiatric services are available to support and reinforce healthy behaviors, relationships, and lifestyle. Aftercare services will be recommended to those who have successfully completed our outpatient program.

Integrative services

  • Adventure therapy – all of our teen and young adult clients have the opportunity to participate in regular outdoor activities. Our guides are incredibly talented outdoor educators  and coaches who are highly trained and experienced in substance use disorder prevention and recovery.
  • Educational consulting & therapeutic placement –  for students in recovery returning to high school or college, we’re fortunate to have the services of The Bertram Group at our disposal. For over 20 years, The Bertram Group has helped families find schools and colleges where their children encounter the right balance of challenge and encouragement to achieve their maximum potential, in recovery.
  • Employment and volunteer services  – our Director of Vocational Services is here to assist clients with part-time and full-time employment and volunteer opportunities while helping navigate the challenges of finding employment and teaching how to balance work with recovery.
  • Sober living – we have relationships with structured male and female sober living homes offering supportive, home-like environments with built-in addiction recovery support and resources – located in the Westport community – for patients for whom home may not best support their recovery.
